- Urban Meyer is in his 6th year as head coach of Florida.
- The Gators may have five to six starters back on offense in 2010, but the loss of Tim Tebow counts as a significantly against them as he was basically Florida’s entire offense for the past few years. Last year he was the top rusher, despite being a Quarterback as opposed to a Running Back, and had almost as many rushing attempts as the next three top rushers COMBINED. But it is important to note that the passing game is more readily replaceable than the running game. Tebow only passed for 2900 yards and while Florida was 2nd in the SEC in total passing yards, that number was only 41st in the country.
- Their defense loses five starters—all five were NFL Draft picks who were selected in the first three rounds. Urban Meyer is a talented coach, but he will be challenged by the fact that he loses 4 of his top 5 tacklers from 2009.
- How does that type of team play for a national title the way most Gators fans are expecting? They don’t because the fact is this team is rebuilding.
- It should be interesting to see what identity this Florida teams takes in 2010. One thing is for sure, it is a completely different team than last year…which is why pre-season rankings are meaningless!
