- Head coach Jim Grobe enters his 10th season at Wake and has only produced a double-digit win season once.
- Statistically this team improved significantly on offense last year, but as their defense declined so did their number of wins.
- This year without Wake’s Career Passing Leader, Riley Skinner, at Quarterback for the first time since 2005, the offense may struggle. He had a great completion percentage (exceptional in 2007 when he led the nation with a 72.4% completion rate) and that will be difficult to replace.
- Defense took a step down in 2009 and they allowed the most point and yards per game since 2005 when they went 4-7 (which makes sense considering they went 5-7 last year).
