- No. 6 Stanford at Arizona State. Stanford wins 17-13.
- Indiana at No. 7 Wisconsin. Wisconsin wins 83-20.
- Kansas at No. 8 Nebraska. Nebraska wins 20-3.
- Penn State at No. 9 Ohio State. Ohio State wins 38-14.
- No. 10 Oklahoma State at Texas. Oklahoma State wins 33-16.
- No.13 Iowa at Northwestern. Northwestern wins 21-17.
- No.14 Utah at Notre Dame. Notre Dame wins 28-3.
- Texas Tech at No. 16 Oklahoma. Oklahoma wins Oklahoma 45-7.
- No. 24 Kansas State at No. 17 Missouri. Missouri wins 38-28.
- No. 20 Virginia Tech at North Carolina. Virginia Tech wins 26-10.
- Miami at Georgia Tech. Miami wins 35-10.
No. 1 Oregon (10-0) at California (5-5). Oregon wins 15-13. Cal is now 0-11 against the 1st ranked team in the AP Poll. Oregon struggled offensively for the first time this year against the Pac-10’s first ranked defense. Coming into the game the lowest points the Ducks had scored this year was 42.
Georgia (5-6) at No. 2 Auburn (11-0). Auburn wins 49-31 and clinches the SEC WEST. Cam Newton completed 80% of his passes (12-15) for 148 yards, 2 TD INT and rushed for 151 yards and another 2 TD. Newton became the 8th player in FBS history to pass for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in a single season. Georgia Quarterback Aaron Murray passed for 3 TD. They face Georgia Tech next week in a game they must win to become bowl eligible.
San Diego State (7-3) at No. 3 TCU (11-0). TCU wins 40-35 and clinches at least a share of the Mountain West Conference title (their second straight). This was TCU’s 24th straight regular season win. QB Andy Dalton passed for 21-36, 240 yards, 4 TD, INT. TCU has the #1 scoring and total defense in the nation and the 35 points by SDSU was the most scored against them this year.
No. 4 Boise State (9-0) at Idaho State (4-6). Boise State wins 52-14 and jumps TCU to No. 3 in the BCS Standing. Idaho State was extremely overmatched and made early mistakes that put Boise State on the board and made their win a foregone conclusion.
LA-Monroe (4-6) at No. 5 LSU (9-1). LSU wins 51-0 but because of Auburn’s win (clinched SEC West) they are officially out of the SEC Conference title game. LSU has won 33 straight regular season nonconference games, the longest such active streak in FBS.
No. 6 Stanford (9-1) at Arizona State (4-6). Stanford wins 17-13. Cardinal Quarterback Andrew Luck may have passed for 292 yards, but he had an INT and not a single touchdown pass. Interestingly enough Stanford’s offense had the ball for 42:25 (compared to just 17:35 for ASU) and yet only managed to score two touchdowns, both by fullback Owen Marecic.
Indiana (4-6) at No. 7 Wisconsin (9-1). Wisconsin wins 83-20. That’s the most points for the Badgers since 1915 (85 vs Marquette) and ties a Big Ten record for the most point in a game (Ohio State had 83 vs Iowa in 195). Quarterback Scott Tolzien only needed to pass for 181 yards to move the ball as most of it was done on the ground by the Running Backs. Starter John Clay was out, but that wasn’t a problem as Montee Ball had 167 yards, 3TD and freshman James White had 144 yards, 2 Td and the Badgers totaled 338 rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. Indiana felt terribly after losing on the last play of the game to Iowa last week, but I have a feeling this large loss feels much worse. The Hoosiers are now 0-6 in the Big Ten.
Kansas (3-7) at No. 8 Nebraska (9-1). Nebraska wins 20-3. Cornhusker Quarterback Taylor Martinez returned for the first time since suffering an injury against Missouri two weeks ago. Nebraska dominated on the ground with 230 total rushing yards, but Martinez was unimpressive through the air, passing for just 167 yards and an INT. But the Nebraska defense dominated, holding Kansas to just 87 total yards and only 15 passing yards.
Penn State (6-4) at No. 9 Ohio State (9-1). Ohio State wins 38-14. The Buckeyes started off slowly and were losing 14-3 at halftime. Penn State walk on Quarterback Matt McGloin had two touchdown passes—the first touchdown pass for PSU in Columbus since 1963. But similar to what happened last week when the Nittany Lions scored 35 unanswered points to beat Northwestern and give head coach Joe Paterno his 500th career win, the Buckeyes scored 35 unanswered points against Penn State this week to hand them a defeat. Ohio State had two INT returned for touchdowns in the 2nd half to flip the momentum and the score. The Buckeyes totaled 315 rushing yards, with Boom Herron accounting for 190 yards and a TD on the ground. With this win, head coach Jim Tressel ties legendary Buckeye coach Woody Hayes for the most all time career wins (238). However, please note that while most of Woody’s wins came at Ohio State, most of Tressel’s came while coaching FCS school Youngstown State.
No. 10 Oklahoma State (9-1) at Texas (4-6). Oklahoma State wins 33-16. Cowboys quarterback passed for 29-43, 409 yards, TD, INT in their 4th straight road win (first time since 1985). On the other hand, Texas lost their 4th straight home game in the same season for the first time since 1956. Prior to this year, Texas had lost just 4 total home games in the last 10 years.
No.13 Iowa (7-3) at Northwestern (7-3). Northwestern wins 21-17. Northwestern’s 3rd straight win against Iowa. They have now won 5 of the last 6. And while Northwestern allowed 35 unanswered points in the defeat at Penn State last week, this week their 14 unanswered points in the 4th quarter won the game for them. Northwestern QB Dan Persa passed for over 300 yards for the 4th time this year.
No.14 Utah (8-2) at Notre Dame (5-5). Notre Dame wins 28-3. Irish freshman Quarterback (Dayne Crist out for season with injury) Tommy Reese completed 65% of his passed (13-20) for 129 yards, 3 TD. Utah has now lost two straight (lost last week to TCU) for the first time since 2007.
Texas Tech (5-5) at No. 16 Oklahoma (8-2). Oklahoma wins Oklahoma 45-7. Sooners Quarterback Landry Jones passed for 23-31, 316 yards and a season high 5 TD. This was Oklahoma’s 36th straight home win as they bounce back from last week’s loss at Texas A&M. Wide Receiver Ryan Broyles had 3 TD catches for a career total of 32 TD, which is a school record. Texas Tech finishes 3-5 in the Big 12 for their first losing conference record since 2000.
No. 24 Kansas State (6-4) at No. 17 Missouri (8-2). Missouri wins 38-28. Missouri wins for the fifth straight time against Kansas State and has its fifth straight season with at least 8 wins.
No. 20 Virginia Tech (8-2) at North Carolina (6-4). Virginia Tech wins 26-10. The Hokies trailed at the half but their defense shutout North Carolina. The Tarheels had 6 turnovers in this game, including 4 INT by Quarterback T.J. Yates who incidentally became the school career leader in passing completions. The winning Quarterback Tyrod Taylor actually completed just 13-28 (46%) of his passes, but had 249 yards and 2 TD with no interceptions.
Miami (7-3) at Georgia Tech (5-5). Miami wins 35-10 and keeps its ACC Coastal division hopes alive. If they win next week against Virginia Tech and then Virginia Tech loses the following week, Miami will play in the ACC Championship game. Four different players had rushing touchdowns for Miami.
