Kansas 2010 Statistics

(Big 12) The Jayhawks play on artificial (FieldTurf) at Memorial Stadium (seats 50,071).

  • Turner Gill is in his 2nd year as head coach. The first one started pretty rough, dropping down to a 3-9 record, the lowest since

    Head Coach Turner Gill

    2001.

  • It still isn’t clear what the identity for this team is. They peaked in 2007 under previous head coach Mark Mangino.  But after allegations of verbal and physical abuse, the fact that he got this team to a 12-1 record in 2007 was irrelevant and Mangino resigned.
  • I think 2011 is all about hope for Kansas.  Hopefully they will improve on everything they did in 2010. There is hope because they beat Georgia Tech and Colorado last year.  Even though the reality is that none of their three wins last year came against a team with a winning record.   There is hope they will improve significantly in the second year of Gill’s system.  Even though the reality is that their schedule is extremely difficult.
  • They have true freshman Brock Berglund, a dual threat quarterback who most people believe will start over sophomore Jordan Webb. In addition to being in the 2nd year of Gill’s system, they have a lot of experience on their offensive line, which will help protect the quarterback and give him time to make decisions and execute the plays.
  • It almost doesn’t matter how many starters they have returning, considering how poorly they’ve done and the fact that they have so many areas that need improvement.
