Now we look ahead to the Missouri Tigers and the SEC gauntlet facing us on the schedule. The Tigers are in their first year of SEC action and join the Gamecocks in the East Division. (Don’t even try to understand the logic of putting a Missouri team in an “east” divison, we gave up a while ago). Mizzou is 0-1 in conference play after a bruising loss to Georgia in Week 2, but rebounded with a nice win which almost slipped away from them late against Arizona State last Saturday night. The Tigers played without their starting quarterback James Franklin, a player who can burn you through the air or on the ground.
It’ll be interesting to see how the quarterback questions on both teams play out this week. While we don’t normally question the decisions of the Head Ball Coach, it was clear from the start last weekend that Connor Shaw was not 100 percent. Shaw is starting against Missouri, but our SEC foes aren’t going to lay off because Shaw is in pain, and for him to be most effective he has to use his speed. But, we’ll see what the Gamecocks have in store for us this weekend. Kickoff is at 3:30 EST and will be televised nationally on CBS. Like Coach Spurrier, we’re hoping he gets win 201 on Saturday.
