Even with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons finishing 5-7, and not making post season play, they still managed to get a player picked up in the 2013 NFL Draft. Tommy Bohanon, a 6’2, 245 pound fullback was selected in the 7th round by the NY Jets.
Bohanon made 22 career starts and played all 12 games in 2012. A little side note, Bohanon was the first Wake Forest fullback drafted since Ovie “The Train” Mughelli went in the 2003 NFL Draft in the fourth round to the Baltimore Ravens.
Joining his teammate in the NFL, but as an undrafted free agent, is Chibuikem “Kenny” Okoro who signed with the San Diego Chargers. Okoro started all 12 games in 2012, and is a 6’1, 190 pound defensive back. He finished at Wake with seven interceptions and 77 yards in returns.
And unlike ACC Atlantic rival, Florida State, Wake Forest doesn’t need to worry about replacing 11 NFL Draft picks for their 2013 roster.
Congratulations to Tommy Bohanon and Kenny Okoro on heading to the NFL! Wish them all the success with their respective teams. GO DEACS!!!
